A MAP OF FANS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Wasserman and Imaginex came together in an activation for AT&T and collegiate baseball fans at The College World Series in Omaha, NE. The activation space itself had several things to do, ranging from social media integrations to meet-and-greets with athletes. Imaginex handled the task of creating a digitally displayed map of where fans traveled from. During downtime, the display also showed recent tweets that contained the hashtag #CWS.
TABLET INTERFACE
To interact with the activation, fans were directed to a touchscreen kiosk made from a Surface Pro and a TouchDesigner-based user interface. Users were first asked to select a favorite team from those still in the College World Series bracket, each displayed with their corresponding logo and color scheme, as well as their hometown zip code.
FAN VISUALIZATION
Using latitude and longitude data for state and zip code boundaries, we created a digital map of the United States. After attendees finished with the kiosk, data was sent from the Surface Pro to the display, and a shower of fireworks in the colors of the selected team flashed at the zip code they selected, and a glowing dot remained afterwards.
TWITTER DISPLAY
While the kiosk was not in use, a Twitter feed would appear on the display. Our software kept track of the most recent tweets with the hashtag #CWS, and added them to a queue. Behind the scenes, we had someone comb through the queue to approve tweets, ensuring that nothing inappropriate was displayed. After a tweet was approved, it replaced one of the currently displayed tweets, and was shown above the map as a floating window.
