AN ENHANCED SHOW SOLUTION
We reunited with Pretty Lights for their 2017 Episodic Tour to unveil a new level of live peformance control. Pretty Lights and their lighting designer Greg “Lazershark” Ellis are known to continually raise the bar. This year they sought our video programming services to provide previously unseen video possibilities. An unreleased version of Crescent Sun Software, patched alongside the Lazershark’s video synths, gave him an infinite amount of raw analog art options combined with precise digital control. With Crescent Sun, each individual video panel on stage was controllable, which allowed for unique panel flashes, live 3D illusionary effects, and spatial video synchronization. The Episodic tour kicked off at The Gorge, WA and traveled through Red Rocks, CO, Chicago, and other destination cities.
UNMATCHED VIDEO CONTROL
Crescent Sun was customized to give Pretty Lights’ production thousands of video control parameters, creating billions of possibilities that could all be controlled in real-time from their console.
CONSOLE INTEGRATION
We mapped every slider, knob, and button to the lighting console, allowing Greg to jam on video without his hands ever leaving the console. Each individual video panel was controlled as if it were a lighting fixture, which allowed for an insane amount of creative possibilities and fx.
REAL-TIME PANEL FX
Crescent Sun software provided pixel-precise animations and realistic video illusions. Each panel had 17 attributes of control parameters, allowing Greg to create unique panel flashes, tracers, and rotation effects in perfect sync to the lights, with the flexibility to change things on the fly.
